To give the Rayz some life, Adam Powell then fought Robin Big Snake and the momentum started to tilt in favor of the Rayz. On a power play at 15:45 Brent Howarth muscled a slapshot from the right circle past David Lemanowicz to get the Rayz on the board. However, at 16:15 Bernie Chmiel scored on a slapshot from the right point and recaptured the two-goal lead for Rio Grande Valley. The Bess outshot the Rayz 15-14 and took a 3-1 lead into the locker room.
The Rayz climbed back in the second period by dominated the shots and scoring chances. Jay Latulippe found a cutting Nick Lindberg on a power play at 13:11 to bring the Rayz within one. The Rayz took their first lead in the third period when Latulippe redirected a Lindberg shot for a goal at 5:19. However Rob Voltera led the Bees back. At 10:26 Voltera's shot caromed off of the glove of Jason Tapp and into the net to tie the score 4-4. Then at 11:28 Banga scored his second goal by poking a puck underneath Tapp that slid slowly into the net for a 5-4 Bees lead. The Rayz had three straight power play chances to tie the game and peppered Lemanowicz, but could not find the equalizer and Voltera capped the scoring with a goal at 18:40 to give the Bees the victory.
