Hounds fall 7-1 to Rage

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Rocky Mountain Rage defeated the Youngstown SteelHounds 7-1 on Saturday night at the Chevrolet Centre.

The Rage took a 1-0 lead as David Morelli scored at 11:23 of the first period for his eighth goal of the year. Nathan Rosychuk put the Rage up 2-0 after one period with his 11th tally of the season at the 16:42 mark. Rosychuk also had two assists on the night and now has 30 points (11-19) this season.

It was more of the same in the second period as Clay Plume scored on Rocky Mountain's lone power play opportunity at 10:07 to make it 3-0. Daymen Rycroft put in his league leading 33rd goal of the season at 17:00 to make it a 4-0 game. Youngstown finally got on the board at 17:35 thanks to a power play goal by Kevin Jarman to make it 4-1. The Hounds were 1-3 on the power play. Simon Watson scored at 19:05 and Scott Wray scored with five seconds left to put the Rage up 6-1 after two periods. The six goals was enough to have Hounds Head Coach Kevin Kaminski pull Andy Franck in favor of Brad Roberts for the third period. Franck made 28 saves on 34 shots.

In the third period Trevor Weisgerber scored his 18th goal of the year at 17:23 to put the Rage up 7-1. Terry Dunbar was the star of the game making 43 saves on 44 Youngstown shots. The Hounds out shot the Rage 44-42 for the game. It is the first time in franchise history that the Rage have defeated the Hounds as Youngstown is now 5-1-0 lifetime against Rocky Mountain.

The Rage improve to 28-6-3 (59 points) and maintain first place in the Northwest Division. The Hounds fall to 22-14-2 (46 points) and remain three points back of the Mississippi RiverKings for second place in the Northeast Division.
