Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, NE - Omaha Royals hitting coach Terry Bradshaw, who spent four seasons playing with Louisville, will return there next month as the Pacific Coast League All-Star team's hitting coach. The PCL and the International League today announced their respective field staffs for the 2008 Triple-A All-Star Game, to be held at Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday, July 16 at 6:05 p.m. CDT.
Bradshaw is in his fifth season as the Royals' hitting coach. He was an outfielder with Omaha in 1998, the ninth season of his ten-year playing career. A ninth round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1990, Bradshaw played with Louisville for parts of the 1994-1997 seasons, and appeared in 34 games with St. Louis in 1995-1996.
"It's an honor to be selected as the hitting coach for the PCL All-Star team," Bradshaw said. "I'm looking forward to going back to Louisville for the first time since my last season there in 1997."
In his playing days, Bradshaw was selected to the Florida State League All-Star team in 1993 and to the Texas League All-Star squad in 1994, but this will be his first time participating in the Triple-A All-Star Game.
Each league's reigning Manager of the Year will skipper the All-Star teams. The PCL All-Stars will be led by Nashville's Frank Kremblas, who guided the 2007 Sounds to a league-best 89-55 record and the team's third division title in as many years with him at the helm. The IL squad will be managed by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Dave Miley, who owns the Louisville Bats franchise record for victories (296) and games managed (541). He guided last year's Yankees to an IL-best 84-59 mark.
Sacramento's Rick Rodriguez , who has served as pitching coach in seven of the first eight seasons of River Cats baseball, will serve in that role for the PCL All-Stars. The PCL trainer is Nashville's Jeff Paxson.
Miley will be joined on the IL bench by two other managers in that league, as Syracuse skipper Doug Davis and Louisville manager Rick Sweet will both serve as coaches on their All-Star team. The trainer for the IL squad will be Louisville's Chris Lapole.
