Former Wildcat Beats Tucson In Extras

Portland, OR - Former Arizona Wildcats catcher Nick Hundley had two RBI including the game winning base hit in the bottom of the 10th as the Portland Beavers rallied to beat the Sidewinders 4-3 in 10 innings on Wednesday night.
Hundley singled through the drawn in Sidewinders infield in the tenth to complete Portland's comeback from a 3-0 deficit. The Beavers scored once in the fifth, once in the eighth and once in the ninth to tie the game before Hundley's game winner.
Dustin Glant was tagged with the blown save and the loss as he allowed the final three runs to score. Glant (0-2) gave up a single and a walk to start the eighth and after a sacrifice bunt, Hundley grounded out to second to make it a 3-2 game. Glant hit Brett Dowdy to open the ninth and after he was sacrificed to second, Matt Antonelli singled to right for the tying run.
Tucson broke a scoreless deadlock with three in the fifth. Jesus Merchan reached on an error to open the inning and Wilkin Castillo doubled him to third. Donnie Kelly picked up a RBI on a base hit to right and Trent Oeltjen's sacrifice fly made it 2-0. Emilio Bonifacio closed Tucson's scoring with a base hit down the left-field line.
Yusmeiro Petit went the first seven innings for the Sidewinders and struck out 10. He allowed just one run on six hits.
The Sidewinders and Beavers play game three of their series on Thursday night at PGE Park. Right-hander Billy Buckner (4-5, 4.48) starts for Tucson against right-hander Justin Germano (1-2, 4.42) for Portland. First pitch is at 7:05. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:55.
