
Boyes paces Bruins' win

The Providence Bruins wrapped up a stretch of four games in five nights on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, skating to a 3-2 victory over the Binghamton Senators. Head coach Scott Gordon's club was 3-0-0-1 this week, taking seven of a possible eight points. The Bruins are now 13-10-2-3 (31 points), putting them in a tie for third place with the Worcester IceCats in the Atlantic Division standings.
Bruin center Brad Boyes scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season, while fellow center Ben Guite netted the game-winner on his third goal of the year. Boyes (12-15-27) is now tied for the team scoring lead with left wing Andy Hilbert (13-14-27) and center Patrice Bergeron (10-17-27). All three players are also tied for 10th in league scoring.
Bergeron, who had an assist on Sunday, played his final game before departing for training camp for the Canadian National Team in the upcoming World Junior Championships. The tournament gets underway on December 25, with the Gold Medal game to be played on January 5. Bergeron will return to the Bruins upon the completion of Canada's run in the tournament.
Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 27 shots on Sunday to improve his record to 10-9-1. Toivonen ranks 10th in the AHL with a 2.12 GAA and seventh with a .934 save percentage. He also ranks second in games played (21), and third in minutes played (1,219:28) and in saves (612).
The Bruins visit the Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday, December 15 at 7:05 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com.
The Bruins return home to host the Springfield Falcons on Friday, December 17 at 7:05 p.m. Friday's game marks the conclusion of the Bruins' Toys for Tots drive. Bruins wives and girlfriends will collect unopened toys in the Dunkin' Donuts Center lobby before the game, to be donated to the U.S. Marine Reserve Corps' Toys for Tots program.
