Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Ryane Clowe had two goals and two assists as the Cleveland Barons defeated the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, 5-1, Sunday at National City Rink at Gund Arena.
Clowe opened the scoring 4:17 into the second period with a power-play tally, snapping a sequence of 198:21 without goal for the Barons, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Third period goals by Christian Ehrhoff and Shane Joseph 1:54 apart expanded Cleveland's lead to 3-0 before Joel Perrault scored for Cincinnati with 1:16 remaining in the period.
With Cincinnati goaltender Mathieu Chouinard pulled for an extra attacker, Clowe deposited the puck from the left circle into an empty net for his second goal of the game and fourth point.
Craig Valette added an insurance tally with 14 seconds remaining in the game for the Barons, who were blanked by the Ducks 1-0 Saturday in Cincinnati.
The Ducks went scoreless in eight power-play chances and are now just three for their last 63 with the man-advantage dating back to November 20.
The eight-game season series between the Ducks and Barons is now tied at two games apiece, with each team winning twice on home ice.
Cincinnati completes a two-game road trip Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Chicago.
