Adirondack Phantoms News Release

Defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon has been recalled by the Philadelphia Flyers from the Adirondack Phantoms according to general manager Paul Holmgren. The Flyers are also bringing up goalie Jason Bacashihua.

The moves are happening following the recent injuries to Kimmo Timonen and Ilya Bryzgalov. This will be Bacashihua's second stint with the Flyers as a backup goalie. He was also called up in early February when Bryzgalov had the flu but Bacashihua did not play in his week-long stretch in the NHL and served as backup to Sergei Bobrovsky.

The 29-year-old from Dearborn Heights, Michigan was a first-round selection of the Dallas Stars in 1999. He has 36 games of NHL experience with the St. Louis Blues from 2005-07. This season with Adirondack he has gone 8-10-1, 2.99, .902.

Phillips is a second-year pro from Bloomington Heights, Michigan who has played most of the season with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL going 8-14-2, 3.41, .883. The Notre Dame product was thrust into the spotlight in a February 26, Sunday afternoon game when Jason Bacashihua was sidelined with injury and Michael Leighton was down with the flu. Phillips made a number of dazzling saves among his 35 total in his big AHL debut en route to a 4-3 victory over the Syracuse Crunch. It remains his only game-action in an Adirondack Phantoms' uniform.

Bourdon is a 22-year-old from St. Hyacinthe, Quebec and is headed to the NHL on his second ever call-up. On his first stint with the Flyers beginning last November, he turned what was expected to be a short stay into a 39-game stretch over three months in which he scored two goals and two assists, played in the Winter Classic against the New York Rangers and played at his hometown Montreal Canadiens.

Bourdon was loaned back to the Phantoms in February but was sidelined for a few weeks with injury before returning to the lineup on March 17 against Syracuse when he scored his first Adirondack goal of the season. He played in four Phantoms games in his latest stay with the club.

He has played in 18 games with the Phantoms this year along with his 39 games with the Flyers.

Bourdon is in his third season of professional hockey and was a third-round selection of Philadelphia (67th overall) in the 2008 NHL entry draft. He has played in 125 games with the Phantoms in his three seasons with the club.
