Broome Sports Foundation Scholarship Presentation Set for Saturday

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that the Broome Sports Foundation will present the 2012 Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarships in a special pre-game ceremony on Saturday, March 31 as the B-Sens host the Syracuse Crunch.

Nine local high school and college students have been chosen as 2012 recipients; Melissa Ash (Sophomore, Buffalo State College), Brandon Basmajian (Union-Endicott High School), Josh Jacyna (Sophomore, State University of New York at Buffalo), Christopher Laubisch (Freshman, Clarkson University), Evan Lippolis (Sophomore, Broome Community College), Kevin Mahoney (Junior, State University of New York at Buffalo), Scott Marean (Binghamton High School), Damien Prohaska (Binghamton High School), and Jonathan Stanley (Sophomore, Drexel University).

Including the scholarships presented to the 2012 recipients, the Broome Sports Foundation has now awarded nearly $130,000 to local student athletes to help further their education. Since the inception of the Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarship fund in 1992, 82 local student athletes have been awarded scholarships.
