Boulders Look to Tackle Jackals as Sprint for the Post-Season hits Full Speed

August 8, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) - The Rockland Boulders have their post-season fate in their hands as they enter the final weeks of the season. Rockland has seven games remaining - six at Provident Bank Park - with the New Jersey Jackals, who they trail for the final playoff slot in the Can-Am League. The Boulders host the Jackals for three big games starting this Thursday, August 9, through Saturday, August 11, with the final game being played in New Jersey on Sunday. The Jackals return to Rockland to finish the season series with a three-game weekend set from August 24-26.

Rockland may have a tough road ahead as their remaining schedule includes 12 tough games against American Association opponents, but the journey will not be any easier for the Jackals, who will play 10 games against the first-place Quebec Capitales, six of those in Canada. With less than a quarter of the season remaining, the Boulders have their fate in their own hands as they look to capture their first post-season berth.

As a mere 35 miles separates the two rivals, it stands highly likely that some of the Jackals faithful will make the trek to Pomona. With their season on the line, the Boulders will be counting on their own fans to rise to the challenge and help put their team over the top.

On Thursday, Can-Am Pitcher-of-the-Week Bobby Blevins looks to continue his hot hand, and fans can look for sparks to fly after the game as the Fireworks Extravaganza crew returns for its final Thursday night show of the regular season. It's Provident Pay Day, which means the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive at least $1 with a chance for as much as $100! The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive free plastic baseballs, and high school students showing a valid ID at the box office will receive a discount, both courtesy of Concordia College. Members of the New York Renaissance Faire will be on hand to entertain, and don't forget our $2 Ladies Night wine specials in the Coors Light Bridge Bar.

Friday Night's Boulder Bash night sees former Major Leaguer Gustavo Chacin on the hill for the Boulders, and fans can enjoy $1 beer at select locations. Be sure to register for the first ever Boulder, Paper, Scissors Tournament, and party into the night after the game at the Coors Light Bridge Bar as the Mighty Spectrum Band makes it triumphant return with a special set of Bruce Springsteen Favorites.

Of course, Saturday night's game wouldn't be complete without the post-game Fireworks Extravaganza show, but before that Jon Velasquez will pitch against New Jersey and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a First Aid Bag courtesy of HealthSav. By the way - it's Disco Night, so bring your Saturday Night Fever to Provident Bank Park and don't miss the Last Dance before the Boulders head west!
