Can-Am League Game Recaps

August 8, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

New Jersey 5, Worcester 4 (15 Innings)

Jackals SS Matt Nandin's RBI single mercifully ended a 15 inning marathon in New Jersey, giving the Jackals a 5-4 win over the Worcester Tornadoes. The hit to right plated Gaetano Giunta from second, after Giunta was called on as a pinch runner for Nick Salotti.

Nandin was no stranger to heroics. With the Jackals trailing in the eighth, it was Nandin's two-run single that tied the score. The shortstop's knock capped a three-run rally, erasing a 4-1 Worcester lead. Nandin finished with three hits and three RBI to lead the Jackals to victory.

Kansas City 12, Newark 5

Kansas City came out swinging from the outset. Three runs in the first inning set the tone for a 12-5 T-Bones victory over the Newark Bears. After a two-out error opened the scoring, RF Ray Sadler belted a two-run homer. Sadler would homer again in the eighth to help put a cap on the win.

With five RBI, Sadler was the game's undisputed run-production leader. However, DH Brandon Jones and C Pat Trettel also turned in solid offensive games. Each finished with three hits and Trettel hit a homer to finish with three runs scored and two RBI. Jones contributed three runs and also drew a walk.

On the mound, LHP Devin Anderson held Newark to two runs on eight hits. He pitched seven innings to capture his seventh win of the season.
