POMONA, NY - The New York Boulders took the series opener on Tuesday night from the Empire State Greys, winning 7-4 at Clover Stadium.

The Boulders made their hits count, as they scored seven runs on just six hits. David Vinsky, Tucker Nathans and Matt McDermott each homered in the win. Vinsky added a triple in the fourth inning after his long ball in the second. Star outfielder Patrick Kivlehan extended his hit streak to 14 games with a single in the first inning.

Despite out-hitting the Boulders, Empire State was unable to get the job done. Greys leadoff batter Luis Atiles tallied three hits and two RBI. Walner Espinal and Jaylen Turner each drove in one run as well.

Boulders starting pitcher Andy Hammond earned the win, tossing five innings of three-run baseball. Ryder Yakel pitched a clean inning of relief. Logan Adams allowed one run in two innings of work in his Boulders debut. Dylan Smith shut the door for New York, recording his 14th save of the season to put him in a tie for the Frontier League lead.

New York continues its playoff push as they pick up another win. The Boulders have a tough schedule down the stretch, and every win is crucial for their playoff hopes. New York sits three games behind the Tri-City ValleyCats, who currently hold the last playoff spot in The Frontier League East Division.

The Boulders (44-33) continue their series against Empire State (15-64) on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. For information on Boulders tickets, value packs and more, visit the Boulders' official website at www.nyboulders.com.
