New York Boulders News Release

POMONA, NY - The New York Boulders saw their season come to an end Sunday evening after losing to the New Jersey Jackals, 11-5, at Clover Stadium. The Boulders finished the year 54-42.

The Boulders entered Sunday needing a win over New Jersey, plus losses by both Sussex County and Tri-City. New York was mathematically eliminated from playoff contention before its first pitch, as Sussex County secured a win and the final playoff spot earlier in the day.

New Jersey strung together nine runs through the first three innings to build a comfortable lead Sunday. The Jackals homered four times during their early offensive surge.

New York got its biggest boost of the game on a towering three-run home run by Thomas Walraven that left the stadium in left field. David Vinsky and Patrick Kivlehan also drove in runs for the Boulders.

After the game, Kivlehan announced his retirement from professional baseball. The Rockland County native and former big leaguer earned an All-Star nod in his lone season with the Boulders and finished the year with a .305 batting average, 23 home runs, 73 RBI, and 66 runs scored in 88 games played.
