Bouchard's Blast Lifts Isotopes to 4-3 Win

Albuquerque, NM - The Isotopes hit four homers, including a go-ahead solo shot off the bat of Sean Bouchard in the eighth frame, to take game one, 4-3, against the Aces Tuesday night at Isotopes Park.

Offensively, Albuquerque recorded eight hits, four homers and a double. Bouchard, Coco Montes, Michael Toglia and Alan Trejo all went deep. Toglia, Trejo and Montes recorded multi-hit efforts.

The Aces took a 1-0 lead in the second frame behind a groundball RBI single by Yonny Hernandez. They added a run to the advantage in the third on a Dominic Fletcher RBI double to center. A second run was prevented from scoring when Ryan Vilade threw out Fletcher attempting to score from second on a single to right.

In the fifth frame Albuquerque tied it up, 2-2, with back-to-back blasts from Trejo and Montes. An inning later, the Isotopes took their first lead, 3-2, of the game on Toglia's solo shot.

The lead did not last long, however, as the Aces plated a run on a sac fly in the top of the seventh by Buddy Kennedy to tie the game at 3-3.

Bouchard then hit his go-ahead homer in the eighth inning.

Riley Smith did not factor into the decision after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on eight hits and three walks with four punchouts.

Topes Scope: - With the win, the Isotopes are now 5-1 against Reno at Isotopes Park since last season.

-Bouchard tallied the 12th go-ahead hit in the seventh inning or later and the fourth homer. Albuquerque is now 10-2 in such contests. It's the team's first win after tallying a go-ahead hit in the seventh or later since July 17 (7-5 at Sacramento).

-Albuquerque is now 7-12 in series openers and 5-5 at home. They have won five of their last six.

-The Isotopes relented four stolen bases-tied for the second-most allowed in a game this year.

-Albuquerque is now 12-15 in one run ball games and 6-2 at home.

-The game lasted just 2:04-the fastest game the Isotopes have played this year and third-fastest in Isotopes Park history (1:57, June 3, 2004 vs. New Orleans and 2:03, July 4, 2017 vs. Sacramento.

-Montes and Trejo hit back-to-back homers in the fifth frame-the sixth occurrence this year and first since June 15 when Bouchard and Carlos Pérez completed the feat.

-Montes now has six homers and 19 RBI in his last 12 games. He also registered his 21st multi-hit game of the year.

-Trejo recorded his first homer since July 24 vs. Sugar Land, 30 at-bats. He also tallied two extra-base hits for the sixth time this year and his 15th multi-hit effort.

-Bouchard hit his first clout since July 27 vs. Las Vegas, 31 at-bats. It was also his second homer in the seventh inning or later.

-Smith completed at least 6.0 innings and allowed two or fewer runs for the fourth time this year. It was also his fifth quality start of the year and the team's 12th.

-Vilade tallied the 10th outfield assist of the year when he threw out Fletcher at the plate. It Vilade's fourth of the year and the fourth time an Isotopes outfielder nabbed a runner at the plate.

-Toglia made his Triple-A debut and went 2-for-4 with a homer, his 24th between Double-A Hartford and Albuquerque.

-Julian Fernandez allowed the tying run to score in the seventh frame, the 22nd blown save by an Isotopes pitcher this year, tied for the fourth-most in all of Triple-A.

On Deck: The Isotopes and Aces will play game two Wednesday at 6:35 pm MT. Ashton Goudeau is set to start for Albuquerque while Reno has yet to announce a starter.
