Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees (51-55) opened their six-game series against the Sacramento River Cats (45-61) Tuesday night with a 16-9 loss. It was the third-highest run total the Bees had given up all season and the highest since they gave up 17 to Sacramento on July 7.
Matt Thaiss went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI and Kyle Kasser went 1-for-4 to increase his hitting streak to a season-high five games. Jose Gomez hit a 432-foot home run for his first Triple-A home run of the season.
The River Cats did the bulk of their damage in the third inning, putting up eight runs on six hits and two Salt Lake errors. They led 9-3 after just three innings.
Thaiss hit his long ball in the seventh inning and Gomez hit his in the ninth, but neither were able to put a dent in the Sacramento lead.
Game two of the series will be played tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.
