Space Cowboys Belt 3 Homers in Series-Opening Win at El Paso

(EL PASO, Texas) - Lewis Brinson delivered the go-ahead blast in a three-homer night for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, helping lead them to a 12-11 win on Tuesday vs. the El Paso Chihuahuas.

Yainer Diaz and David Hensley homered as well, as the Space Cowboys - who are now amidst a five-game winning streak - opened a six-game series at Southwest University Park.

HIGHLIGHTS: 8.9 at ELP

Diaz hit a solo shot to open the fourth and Hensley followed later in the inning with a three-run homer -traveling 450 feet and giving him 10 on the season. Hensley's homer gave the Space Cowboys a 6-5 lead.

Justin Dirden was assigned to the Space Cowboys from Double A Corpus Christi and made his Triple A debut Tuesday. Dirden, who is ranked as the Houston Astros No.28 prospect by MLB.com, went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. His first RBI double came in the fifth, giving the Space Cowboys a 7-6 lead, and he added another in the seventh to push the advantage to 8-6.

A two-run homer from Luis Campusano and two-run double from CJ Hinojosa put El Paso out in front before Brinson's 16th home run of the season in the eighth. Brinson also delivered the Space Cowboys' first lead of the night with an RBI single in the first.

Hensley padded the Space Cowboys lead in the ninth to score Alex De Goti. Henlsey finished the night 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, three walks and three stolen bases. It's the most stolen bases in a single game from a Space Cowboys player this year.

Forrest Whitley is set to take the mound for game two of the series at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday. El Paso has yet to name a starter.
