Bouchard Returns to Komet Blue Line

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced today that defenseman Frederic Bouchard has agreed to terms and will be returning to the Komet blue line for the 2003-04 season. In addition to Bouchard, the Komets also announced the additions of 2 rookies to the roster. Forward Josh Tataryn has joined the list of returnees from last season's championship roster. Rookie defenseman Mark Cole has also been added to the lineup.

Bouchard, 27, will be entering his 7th pro season and 4th with the Komets. Last season he elected to skate with Augsburg (DEL) in a German elite league scoring 2 goals and 12 points in 34 games. During the 1999-00, 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons with Fort Wayne the defenseman appeared in 146 regular season games scoring 64 goals and 144 points. Bouchard also has 6 goals and 12 points in 20 Komet playoff games. During the 1999-00 campaign, Bouchard was selected to the UHL West All-Star Team, led all UHL defensemen with 33 goals and was named a UHL All-Star Second Team defenseman. During the 2000-01 season Bouchard posted 2 new Komet franchise records for a defenseman netting 2 hat tricks during the season and scoring a 4-goal game.

The Quebec native was signed as a free agent by Dallas of the NHL in August, 1997. Bouchard's first pro year was 1997-98 appearing in 53 games (2g, 14pts) with Michigan (IHL) after completing 4 seasons in the QMJHL.

The addition of Bouchard gives the Komets their UHL limit of 6 veterans on the roster for 2003-04.

Tataryn agrees to return.....the Komets also added 2 rookies to the roster for the upcoming campaign. Winger Josh Tataryn, 21, will be returning after winning the UHL Championship with the Komets last season. The Ontario native completed his 3rd season in the OHL last year skating 41 games with Saginaw (17g, 30pts) before appearing in the final 8 games of the regular season with Fort Wayne (3g, 8pts). Tataryn also appeared in 8 Komet playoff games (1g, 2pts).

Rookie defenseman Mark Cole has also been added to the Komet roster. Cole, 24, hails from East Islip, New York and was a member of the 2001 Plattsburg Cardinals Division III NCAA National Championship Team.

The addition of Bouchard, Tataryn and Cole brings the Komet roster to 18 players including 11 forwards, 6 defensemen and 1 goaltender. Training Camp will begin Monday, Octber 13. More details about the Komet's training camp will be released at a later date.

Komet schedule change.....the Komet game scheduled at Richmond for Nov. 23 has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 7:05pm. An updated Komet schedule accompanies this release. The Komets have 3 exhibition games slated for the preseason. There will be 2 home exhibition games at the Memorial Coliseum as the Komets will host Port Huron Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7:35pm and then take on the visiting Kalamazoo Wings Friday, Oct. 17 at 8pm. The Komets travel to Kalamazoo for a final 2003-04 tuneup Saturday night, Oct. 18 at 7:30 at Wings Stadium. The regular season begins Friday, Oct. 24 as the Komets skate at Muskegon for the Fury's home opener. The Komet's return to Fort Wayne for their home opener and defense of the Colonial Cup Saturday, Oct. 25 against the Kalamazoo Wings.

Komet Season Tickets.....2003-04 Komet season tickets are on sale at the Komet office at 1010 Memorial Wayne in Fort Wayne. Many great seats still available. Season tickets start at $185 for children, $265 for seniors and students, and $325 for adults in the Pepsi Zone. All season ticket packages include 2 exhibition games and the 2004 UHL All Star Game to be held in Fort Wayne Sunday, January 18. For information call the Komet office at (260) 483-0011.
