Boston Celtics Call up Vander Blue from Delaware 87ers

NEWARK, DE.-January 22, 2013- The Boston Celtics have signed Delaware 87ers guard Vander Blue to a 10-day contract. Blue (6-5, 197), acquired off of waivers on January 13, played four games with the Delaware 87ers averaging 19 points and two assists in 31 minutes per game.

While at Marquette University, Blue (6-4, 200) was named to the 2012-13 All Big East Second team after averaging a team-high 15 points per game. Blue was an early-entry candidate in the 2013 NBA Draft and signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia 76ers on September 27.

Most recently, Blue played in the Israeli Super League with Rishon Le Zion. In a total of seven games played, he averaged 12 points and three assists in 25 minutes per game. Vander Blue is the second GATORADE CALL-UP in SEVENS history and the 15th of the 2013-14 NBA Development League season. 127 current NBA players have NBA D-League experience.
