Boston Blazers News Release

Boston, MA (December 23, 2010) Boston Blazers Head Coach Tom Ryan has been relieved of his duties with the team according to Blazers President and General Manager, Doug Reffue. Ryan was originally hired in 2007 as the Head Coach and General Manager before the Blazers opted out of their 2008 season.

Upon Boston's return in 2009, Ryan led the Blazers to a 10-6 record. Following the 2009 season, Ryan stepped down from GM to focus solely on team development and coaching. Ryan, who also is the coach of Team USA for the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, had an 18-14 overall record during his two year tenure with the Blazers. The team qualified for the NLL playoffs in two consecutive seasons and lost to the Buffalo Bandits and the Orlando Titans in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

"The decision to release Tom was a very difficult one for me," said Reffue. "Tom has been an instrumental force in getting the Blazers franchise launched. He has proven himself a great evaluator of talent and his passion for lacrosse is unmatched. We wish him well."
