Blazers Kyle Rubisch Named to 2011 NLL All-Rookie Team

Boston, MA (May 10, 2011) The National Lacrosse League announced today that Boston Blazers defenseman Kyle Rubisch was named to the 2011 National Lacrosse League's All-Rookie Team.Rubisch is joined by Calgary Roughnecks forward Curtis Dickson, Rochester Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson, Toronto Rock forward Aaron Pascas, and Minnesota Swarm transition players Andrew Suitor and Tyler Hass.

This season, Rubisch headed the Blazers defense recording a rookie and team high 143 loose balls and 20 forced turnovers. Rubisch also netted his first NLL goal against Rochester on April 2nd and had three assists.

No stranger to such accolades, the Brampton, Ontario native was also recognized by the league during the season with Rookie of the Week and the February Rookie of the Month honors as well as was named to his first All Star Team.

The Blazers selected Rubisch, a graduate from Dowling College with their 2nd overall pick in the NLL 2010 Entry Draft. At Dowling, Rubisch was named to the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star Team and was a First Team All American. He has also received several accolades with his hometown team, the Brampton Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse including the NLL's Insider Defender of the Year and the Brampton Guardian's Ken Giles Award presented to the city's top amateur athlete.

Rubisch will represent Team Canada next week in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Prague and also will suit up this summer for the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
