Iannucci Back with Philadelphia Wings

Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today signed the NLL's single season goal-scoring record holder, Athan Iannucci, to a one year deal and placed him on the Active Roster. Iannucci returns to the Wings after missing the 2010 season due to a knee injury.

"Athan is extremely anxious to get back on the floor with his teammates," said Wings Owner Michael French. "He is in superior physical shape and looks like the Athan of old in our exhibitions in Buffalo and Ontario. His teammates, coaches, management and ownership are thrilled to see him back in the Wings lineup and look forward to watching him this season."

Iannucci played in 10 games for the Wings in 2009 and accumulated 37 points (23G, 14A). He also picked up 38 loose balls and was named the NLL "Overall Player of the Week" for week 12 of the season. In 2008, Iannucci set a new NLL single season goal scoring record, netting 71 goals in 16 regular season games. He also received the NLL's Player of the Month Award three out of the four months of the seasonanuary, February, April), a league first. Iannucci was originally drafted by the Wings in the first round (eighth overall) in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft after finishing his standout college career at Hofstra University.

The Wings open their 2011 NLL season on Saturday, January 8 against the Boston Blazers at the Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m.
