June 9, 2013 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release

Despite a 9th inning rally, the Border Cats ended up on the losing end of a 6-4 10 inning game Sunday at Subway Field. The Cats came back from a 4-1 deficit and rallied to tie the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 9th. Ty Stetson (Murray State University) led off with a walk and later scored on a balk and Cory Kay (Harper College) came home with the tying run on a clutch two-out double by Jason Vosler (Northeastern University). Kay had doubled in the 9th inning and finished the night 2-5 with a run scored. Alex Bautista (Clarendon College) went 3-5 with a run batted in.

Chad Mayle (Western Michigan University) started for Thunder Bay and pitched 5 1/3 innings. The righthander allowed seven hits and two runs while walking four and striking out four. Kregg Snook (Clarendon College) took the loss in relief to fall to 0-1.

The Cats (6-6) and Bucks (7-4), wrap up their two game series tonight at 7:05pm. Lefthander Ryan Atwood (Florida Gulf Coast University) will get the start for the Cats. Atwood struck out seven batters in four shutout innings in his season debut last Tuesday against Mankato.

CLAW MARKS: First baseman Ryan Casillas (Southern Illinois University) was out of the lineup for the third straight game with a left wrist injury. Casillas, who leads the team with 10 runs batted in, is listed as day to day. In a move that was planned before the season, the Cats waived infielder Trent Pell (Kellogg Community College) from his temporary contract. Pell batted .300 (3-10), in four games.
