Boomers Take Game One of Series

Schaumburg, IL - Gateway loses the first of the three game series with Schaumburg 4-3.

The Grizzlies got on the board in the first inning with an RBI single from Andres Regnault to make it 1-0 Gateway.

Quincy Nieporte reached on an error to lead off the second inning, then found himself on third base after a pair of wild pitches. Braxton Davidson drove him in with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

Gateway reclaimed the lead in the third inning with a sacrifice fly RBI from Regnault making it 2-1. Play was suspended on Tuesday night in the top of the third. The Grizzlies could not add any more runs in the inning when play resumed on Wednesday.

An RBI double from Nick Oddo and an RBI triple from Chase Dawson put Schaumburg on top for the first time in the game at 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

The Grizzlies tied it at three in the top of the fifth inning with another RBI single from Regnault scoring Abdiel Diaz, who was on base all four times he came to the plate.

Chase Dawson's RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning put the Boomers on top 4-3.

Isaiah Rivera ran into trouble in the ninth inning, which forced Thomas Nicoll to come in and earn the save, his sixth of the year, to preserve the Boomers win.
