Boomers Rally to Third Straight

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, came from behind for the second consecutive contest to dispose of the Rockford Aviators 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Schaumburg drew a season high 10 walks in the game and chased Rockford's starter in the third. The Boomers scored in each of the first three frames, using just two hits. Joe De Pinto notched an RBI double in the second and Ryan McChesney singled home a run in the third. Rockford's Dusty Robinson hit a go ahead two-run homer in the fifth before Schaumburg tacked on two runs in the seventh to account for the final. Gerard Hall evened the game with a single up the middle and Jordan Dean put the Boomers ahead for good with an infield hit to score Mark Nelson with the winning run.

Danny Jimenez worked five innings but did not factor in the decision. Justin Erasmus claimed the win, working three scoreless frames in his second appearance with the team. Dexter Price pitched the ninth, earning his franchise record 18th save. Schaumburg won despite accumulating just six hits, two from De Pinto. Seven individuals drew a walk in the game.

Schaumburg (44-30) is a season high 14 games over the .500 mark. The Boomers lead the league in attendance and own the best home record in the league at 29-9. The season long nine game homestand continues Monday night at 6:30 p.m. with the final against Rockford. RHP Seth Webster (5-2, 2.88) starts for the Boomers against RHP Ryan Zimmerman (6-4, 3.59).
