
Bonus Hockey Nets Rampage Two Points Over Weekend

WED. FEB. 23 L, 3-1
Joel Kwiatkowski's 10th goal of the year, assisted by Josh Olson and Paul Healey, tied the game at one with 17:23 passed in the second period.
Hartford would later add two more goals including an empty-net goal with 17 seconds to play to make the 3-1 final score look larger than the contest actually was. Travis Scott turned away 30 of 32 shots despite being tagged for the defeat.
Scott allowed his second goal of the night at 9:04 into the third period and Jason LeBarbera stayed strong, finishing with 22 saves.
THUR. FEB. 24 L, 3-1
Josh Olson opened the game with at goal at 8:57 into the first period, but Worcester rallied with three unanswered on their to a 3-1 victory over the Rampage.
Olson's goal was helped by Paul Healey and Lukas Krajicek. Healey's assist gave him a three-game scoring streak.
Patrick DesRochers allowed three goals on 33 shots for San Antonio. The Rampage were out shot 33-19 and denied on both power-play chances in the game. Worcester was 1-for-4 with an extra man.
FRI. FEB. 26 L, 2-1 (OT)
The Rampage wrapped their 12-game road trip Saturday night by receiving a point with a 2-1 overtime loss against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena. Stephen Weiss' 15th goal of the year at 8:16 in the opening period forced the extra session.
Grand Rapid's Kip Miller scored on a power-play 1:33 into overtime ending the Rampage road trip at 4-7-1. Grand Rapids' netminder MacDonald, who stopped 30 of 31 shots on the night, was peppered in the second period with 16 of San Antonio's 31 shots. Rampage's Travis Scott saved 26 of 28 shots on goal.
SAT. FEB. 27 L, 3-2 (SO)
After Houston opened the scoring at 5:11 into the first, they looked to take the goal advantage into the first intermission, but Joel Kwiatkowski scored as the horn sounded to tie the game at one.
Chris Nielsen out skated the opposition to the puck and found a slicing Kwiatkowski crashing the net. Kwiatkowski went from Josh Harding's right-to-left for his 11th goal of the season.
Twenty-six seconds after Houston took a 2-1 lead, Kwiatkowski found Brent Cullaton who beat Harding top-shelf over his right shoulder from the blue line.
A scoreless overtime led to San Antonio's eighth shootout of the season. Kwiatkowski gave the Rampage a goal in the shootout, but Mikko Koivu and Matt Foy scored for Houston, spoiling San Antonio's return home. San Antonio (23-31-3-5) is now 3-5 in shootouts.
Scott took the loss despite turning away 32 of 34 shots. Harding only faced 22 shots and allowed two on the evening. Houston now leads the Rampage by six points as they battle for the final playoff spot in the West Division.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Defenseman - Joel Kwiatkowski
Joel Kwiatkowski led the Rampage in scoring last week with two goals and an assist. On the season, San Antonio's second-leading scorer, ranks tied for second among AHL defensemen in goals scored (11) and is currently tied for 13th in total points (27).
SHOTS FROM THE POINT
Feb. 25 - Loaned F Josh Olson to Hershey (AHL) and received on loan F Andre Savage from Hershey (AHL). Savage brings 66 games of NHL experience to San Antonio.
The Rampage have 18 games remaining in the 2004-05 regular season. Of those 18, 15 will be against AHL West Division opponents including seven with Houston and three with Grand Rapids.
