BOMBERS NOTES

ROAD WARRIORS: The Bombers hit the pavement this week for 4 games in 5 days, all on the road. The team starts with a pair of games against the Elmira Jackals (the first between the two teams this season) on Tuesday and Wednesday, both at 7:05 p.m. Then the Bombers will seek revenge against the Trenton Devils on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before a visit to Johnstown to face off against the Chiefs on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

EIGHT IS GREAT: The Bombers decisively beat the first place Wheeling Nailers 8-4 on Friday night at WesBanco Arena as Nino Musitelli and Tomas Zaborsky each netted a pair of goals and an assist. Mike McLean nabbed four assists, a career high. Also collecting goals for the Bombers were Brock Wilson, Ryan Smyth, Christian Gaudet and Jarret Lukin. Smyth and Gaudet both recorded assists as well. Goalie Tyler Plante, making his first start of 2009, was 35 of 39 for the win.

BIG GAME, BIG FINISH: The Bombers defeated the Wheeling Nailers for the second time in as many nights on Saturday, this time 5-4, in the final game of a home-and-home series between the division foes. Tomas Zaborsky netted the game winner with six minutes remaining to give the Nailers their first back-to-back losses of the season. Also scoring for the Bombers were Danny LaPointe, Dan Riedel, Jarret Lukin and Ryan Smyth. Goalie Paul Drew was 25 of 29 for the win, his tenth of the season.

WHAT'S DONE IS DONE: The Bombers suffered their first shutout loss of the season on Sunday to the visiting Trenton Devils, losing 5-0. In goal for the Bombers was Tyler Plante, who was 37 of 42 on the night. The Bombers held the Devils to just one power play goal on seven chances. The Bombers were outshot by the Devils 42-25.

CAN WE STILL CALL YOU "NEW GUY": Recently acquired rookie forward Tomas Zaborsky has found his groove with the Bombers. He's got five points (4g,1a) in his last four games and has tallied each of the Bombers last three game-winning goals (totaling 4 on the year).

RIGHT ON RIEDEL: Dan Riedel has 6 points (1g,5a) in his last four games with the Bombers. On Saturday night he had his ninth power play goal of the year, and 20th power play point (tied for 2nd in the league).

FOLLOW THE LEADER: Second-year pro Mike McLean is the sole owner of the team's lead in points with 37. He broke a six-game point streak and four-game assist streak on Sunday, and had tallied 12 points (3g,9a) in the span. He ranks 8th in the league in scoring and had his fourth straight multi-point game on Saturday.

MILESTONES: The following Bombers players are approaching career milestones: Dan Riedel - 3 goals shy of 50 career goals and 3 points shy of 100 career points; Dominic D'Amour - 4 assists shy of 50 career assists; Ryan Smyth - 7 points shy of 50 career points; Mike McLean - 7 assists shy of 40 career assists; Joe Van Culin - 3 points shy of 50 career points

MILE MARKERS: On Saturday night Dan Riedel had his 50th career assist...Last Sunday in Reading Kelly Perrault played in his 500th career professional game.

LOOK OUT BELOW!

ARE WE HOME YET: The Bombers won't be back to the friendly confines of the Nutter Center until Tuesday, January 27 when they face the Elmira Jackals at 7:30 p.m. It will be "2-for-1 Tuesday" and all Silver level tickets are two for the price of one at the Nutter Center box office.

LIKE TOY SOLDIERS: The Bombers wore special military-themed jerseys designed by base employee Denise Baker on Saturday, January 10 for Military Appreciation Night II. The jerseys were auctioned off live after the game to benefit the WPAFB Fisher/Nightingale Houses and the Dayton Bombers Foundation, raising more than $10,000. 2007-08 Fan Favorite Britt Dougherty took the top prize, going for $800.

ON AIR: Catch two of the Bombers four games this week on WONE 980AM as broadcaster Tom Michaels calls the games from Elmira on Tuesday night at 7:05 and from Trenton on Friday at 7:30 p.m. All four games will be available on the internet with B2 Networks audio and video broadcasts by visiting www.echl.com.
