Salmon Kings Extend Winning Streak To 15 Games

Posting back-to-back wins against Ontario on Friday and Saturday Victoria extended its winning streak to 15 games which is the second-longest winning streak in the 21-year history of the ECHL.

The Salmon Kings travel to Alaska for games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Victoria has won the last three meetings to improve to 4-1-1 in the season series. It will be the first meeting this season at Alaska where the Salmon Kings are 3-2-0 in their last five games. The Aces are 15-5-1 at home and 32-13-4 overall against Victoria.

Cincinnati holds the ECHL record with a 17-game winning streak from Jan. 16-Feb. 29, 2008. The Salmon Kings have won all 15 of their games in regulation giving them the record for the longest streak of regulation wins as the Cyclones had three shootout wins and an overtime victory during their streak.

The Salmon Kings have won their last four road games, one shy of the team record of five road wins in a row set Mar. 5-20, 1998 when the team played in Baton Rouge, La.

Victoria has won 11 home games in a row which is their longest home winning streak since a club record 12 consecutive home wins in 1988-89. The record for consecutive wins was 12 games when the club played in Erie, Pa. in 1989-90.

Since beginning the season 3-6-0, the Salmon Kings have gone 23-3-2 to improve to 26-9-2 with a league-leading 26 wins and 54 points. Victoria leads the league in goals-against average with 2.14 and is third with 3.62 goals per game. The Salmon Kings are tied for third with eight shorthand goals and are tied for the league lead with two shorthand goals allowed. Victoria is 20-5-1 when it scores the first goal, 7-1-0 when tied after two periods and 18-0-1 when leading after two periods.

The goaltending chores during the streak have been shared by Jonathan Boutin, Julien Ellis and Todd Ford. Boutin is 4-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.25 and a save percentage of .963 while Ellis is 4-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.25 and a save percentage of .951 and Ford s 7-0-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.57 and a save percentage of .946.

Wes Goldie leads the Salmon Kings during the winning streak with 19 goals and 23 points. Defenseman Dylan Yeo has a team-high plus-minus rating of +18 and 18 points (4g-14a) tying him for second-most points during the streak with Olivier Filion, whose 15 assists during the period are a team best. Goldie leads the league with 32 goals and is tied for fourth with 44 points while Yeo leads ECHL defensemen with 10 goals, 25 assists and 35 points and Filion is tied for fourth with 29 assists and tied for eighth with 37 points.

Idaho Steelheads
* Defenseman Kory Scoran had career highs with three assists and three points on Saturday against Reading.
* Rookie Ben Nelson has five goals in his last five games and eight points (6g-2a) in his last seven games.
* Steelheads host Utah on Wednesday and play at Stockton on Saturday and Sunday.

Phoenix RoadRunners
* RoadRunners are averaging 3.67 goals per game the last three games compared to 2.74 for the season.
* Michael Cohen has a four-game point streak (6g-2a).
* RoadRunners host Ontario on Wednesday and Bakersfield on Saturday and Sunday and play at Bakersfield on Friday.

Utah Grizzlies
* Grizzlies are 10-5-3 when they score a power-play goal.
* Ryan Kinasewich had nine points (3g-6a) in four games last week.
* Grizzlies play at Idaho on Wednesday and at Ontario on Friday and Saturday.

Victoria Salmon Kings
* Salmon Kings have a 15-game winning streak, the second-longest in ECHL history.
* Wes Goldie has 16 goals and 20 points in his last 11 games.
* Salmon Kings play at Alaska on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

National Conference - Pacific Division

Bakersfield Condors
* Condors are 3-1-0 and have outscored their opponents 21-13 in their last four home games.
* Matt Pope is fourth Condor rookie in last five seasons to score 20 goals.
* Condors host Las Vegas on Wednesday and Phoenix on Friday before traveling to Phoenix on Saturday and Sunday.

Las Vegas Wranglers
* Wranglers have registered a point in six of their last eight games (5-2-1).
* Adam Miller has 10 assists and 14 points in his last 10 games.
* Wranglers play at Bakersfield on Wednesday and at Stockton on Friday.

Ontario Reign
* Reign lead the Pacific Division with 19 wins and 40 points.
* Itan Chavira recorded his first pro point with an assist on Wednesday against Alaska and his first pro goal on Saturday at Victoria.
* Reign play at Phoenix on Wednesday and host Utah on Friday and Saturday.

Stockton Thunder
* Thunder are 4-0-1 since Matt Thomas took over as head coach.
* Cleve Kinley is fourth among ECHL defensemen with 19 assists.
* Thunder host Las Vegas on Friday and Idaho on Saturday and Sunday.

American Conference - South Division

Charlotte Checkers
* Michel Leveille has a seven-game point streak (6g-3a).
* Mike Bayrack (2g-6a) and Matthew Ford (2g-6a) have four-game point streaks.
* Checkers host Florida on Tuesday and Sunday and Mississippi on Friday.

Florida Everblades
* Everblades lead the ECHL on the power play with 23.4 percent (52-for-222).
* Kevin Baker leads the league with 14 power-play goals and is tied for the lead with 21 power-play points.
* Everblades play at Charlotte on Tuesday and Sunday, at Gwinnett on Wednesday and Saturday and at South Carolina on Thursday.

Gwinnett Gladiators
* Gladiators lead the league with 39.15 shots per game.
* Rookie Matt Siddall has four points (2g-2a) in his last three games.
* Gladiators host Florida on Wednesday and Saturday and South Carolina on Monday.

Mississippi Sea Wolves
* Rookie Ryan Cruthers leads the team with 18 goals, six power-play goals and 35 points.
* Jason Tejchma leads the team with 19 assists is second with 29 points.
* Sea Wolves play at Charlotte on Friday and at South Carolina on Saturday.

South Carolina Stingrays
* Stingrays surrendered season-high seven goals to Charlotte on Tuesday, but are still second in the league with goals-against average of 2.43.

Cincinnati Cyclones
* Cyclones are 9-2-0 on the road since Thanksgiving.
* T.J. McElroy is tied for second among ECHL defensemen with eight goals.
* Cyclones host Wheeling on Wednesday and play at Wheeling on Saturday.

Dayton Bombers
* Bombers were 16-for-18 (88.9 percent) on the penalty kill last week.
* Mike McLean has 12 points (3g-9a) in his last seven games.
* Bombers play at Elmira on Tuesday and Wednesday, at Trenton on Friday and at Johnstown on Saturday.

Elmira Jackals
* Defenseman Nathan Lutz has four points (3g-1a) in his last four games.
* Chris Korchinski has 18 points (8g-10a) in 23 games since being acquired from Las Vegas on Nov. 19.
* Jackals host Dayton on Tuesday and Wednesday and play at Johnstown on Friday and at Trenton on Sunday.

Johnstown Chiefs
* Rookie Ryan Del Monte has five goals and nine points in his last seven games.
* Rookie Jon Landry leads ECHL defensemen with three game-winning goals.

Reading Royals
* Steve Ward has an eight-game point streak (3g-5a).
* Brock Hooton has a six-game point streak (5g-8a).

Trenton Devils
* Devils have averaged 3.5 goals per game the last 19 games after averaging 2.2 goals per game the first 15 games.
* Jeremy Akeson has a four-game point streak (3g-4a).
* Devils host Johnstown on Wednesday, Dayton on Friday and Elmira on Sunday and play at Reading on Saturday.

Wheeling Nailers
* Nailers lost back-to-back games in regulation for first time this season on Friday and Saturday.
* Bryan Ewing leads the league with five shorthand goals.
