Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Kannapolis, NC) – Yusmeiro Petit tossed six scoreless innings striking out nine Intimidators batters leading Capital City (11-4) to Friday night's 7-0 win over Kannapolis at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium

The Bombers starter proved too much for the Intimidators who were unable to muster much offense. Petit (3-0) improved his record to 3-0. Bryan King chipped in with two scoreless innings and Shane Hawk closed out the ninth combining with Petit for the shutout.

The game started out as a pitcher's duel until the top of the fifth inning. Intimidators starter Brandon McCarthy got into trouble giving up a lead off triple to center fielder Derran Watts. Wilson Batista hit a fielder's choice ground ball to Kannapolis shortstop Robert Valido, who went home in an attempt to throw out Watts, but his throw was high allowing Watts to score and Batista to move up to second.

Brian Harvey then doubled scoring Batista. Ian Bladergroen followed with a double of his own driving in Harvey. McCarthy (1-2) picked up his second consecutive loss despite striking out nine Bombers in six innings of work.

The Intimidators (6-7) welcome the Augusta Green Jackets Saturday night for the start of a four-game series. Fireworks follow the game sponsored by Freightliner and it is City of Concord night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. First pitch is set at 7:05pm.
