April 23, 2004 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Hagerstown Suns News Release
Charleston, SC: The Hagerstown Suns dropped to 3-9 on the year after losing to the Charleston River Dogs on Friday night, 8-4. The Suns tried to come back after trailing 7-0 heading into the eighth, when they plated four runs on five hits, but fell short to the River Dogs (9-6) who won the series 3 games to 1.
The Suns' starter, RHP Ryan Sadowski (0-2) had his best start, but still lost after giving up three runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out seven. Suns' relievers uncharacteristically gave up five runs in 3 1/3 relief innings. As a unit the bullpen had a 2.47 ERA for the year coming in. The starters haven't been too shabby either lately. Even with Sadowksi's three earned today, the starters are 0-2 with a 2.88 ERA in the last five games in 25 innings.
2B Pat Dobson continues to hit the ball well at the plate, getting two hits for the second straight night, and is hitting .400 (8-20) over his last five games. LF Jonathan Armitage had a big two run double in the eighth to try to get the Suns back in it. Armitage now leads the team in both RBI's and extra base hits with eight.
Suns start a four game series at the Savannah Sand Gnats on Saturday, 4/24 @ 7:05pm and will send RHP Juan Serrato to the hill against RHP Clint Evers.
