Lexington Legends News Release
Lexington scored four runs in the seventh inning in route to a 5-4 win over Asheville Friday night. Justin Humphries and Saul Torres had three hits and Edwin Maysonett had two hits to pace the balanced Lexington attack.
A trio of Legends pitchers stymied the Tourists' bats. Matt Albers was brilliant in six innings. The right-hander from Sugar Land, Texas allowed just two hits in six innings while striking out 8 batters. Josh Muecke (1-0)served up a run in two innings and Aaron Williams tossed a scoreless ninth to end the game.
The Legends plated the game's first run in the first inning. Maysonet singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on Torres' single. Neil Wilson tied the game for Asheville in the seventh with a home run to left field.
Lexington broke open the game in the seventh inning with four runs. Maysonet, Torres and Josh Anderson each delivered RBI singles. Kevin Davidson scored on a throwing error by third baseman Ian Stewart after the single by Anderson.
Lexington has won a season high three straight games and they are 3 games over .500 for the first time this season.
The Legends will open a four game series with Greensboro Saturday night. The Legends will send Mitch Talbot to the mound while the Bats will counter with left-hander, Jon Michael Nickerson.
