Dayton Bombers News Release
The Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team has announced that its has signed rookie center Mike Renzi and winger David Brousseau to contracts.
Last season, Renzi, 21, potted 44 goals and added 64 assists for 108 points in just 68 games for the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario (Junior) Hockey League. In eight playoff games, he accumulated three goals and nine assists. Head Coach Greg Ireland stated, "Mike Renzi played for me in junior so we know he brings a Doug Gilmour-like game to the rink every day. What I mean by that is a fiesty, scrappy-type attitude combined with great offensive abilities."
26-year old right winger David Brosseau last season appeared in 72 games for the now defunct Macon Whoopee of the East Coast Hockey League. He tallied 34 goals and 28 assists (62 points). He played in one game with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros. Head Coach Greg Ireland said, "David is a not only a proven goal scorer, but he has great leadership skills. We are really looking forward to adding that neat combination of scoring punch and leadership."A product of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Brosseau played the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons with Austin of the Western Professional Hockey League. He totalled 45 goals and 29 assists in just 55 games played with the Ice Bats in 1999-2000, a season that also included a 13-game stint (1-2-3) with the then-IHL Aeros.
Both Renzi (Rochester Americans) and Brosseau (Grand Rapids Griffins) are currently in American League training camps.
