WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers hauled in a quality non-import player today with the re-signing of Canadian receiver Jamie Stoddard.

As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Jamie Stoddard has been an integral part of this football team for the past six seasons and we are extremely pleased that he will continue to be for the foreseeable future," said Blue Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman.

"Quality Canadian players, and especially quality Canadian receivers, are critical to the success of every team in this league. We are confident that Jamie will continue to be a key contributor to the success of the Blue Bombers in 2006 and beyond."

Stoddard (6-0, 190, Alberta '99, DOB: Dec. 29, 1977 in Richmond, B.C.) was one of the Bombers most dependable receivers yet again in 2005. He snagged 30 catches for 431 yards and two touchdowns. His 30 catches ranked fourth-best on the team. He also finished fifth on the team in special teams tackles with eight and was Troy Westwood's regular holder on field goal attempts.

The Alberta Golden Bears product has been Mr. Reliable since joining the Blue Bombers as a free agent in 2000. He has averaged 25 catches and nearly 400 yards per season in each of his six seasons as a member of the Blue & Gold. Stoddard had perhaps his finest season as a Bomber in 2001 when he had 34 catches for 526 yards and four TDs. He has not missed a regular season game since his rookie season in 2000.
