Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that long-time LB Antonious Bonner has re-signed with the club. 2006 will be Bonner's tenth season in Double Blue.

Commented Defensive Coordinator, Rich Stubler: "He was an integral part of our championship run in 2004 and he was missed last year for his abilities as our SAM linebacker. Now we welcome him back and look forward having him return to the line-up."

Antonious Bonner is the second-longest consecutive serving Argonaut, behind teammate CB Adrion Smith. The speedy defender originally joined the club in 1997 as a defensive back and his versatility allowed him to move to outside linebacker. A two-time Grey Cup Champion with the Argonauts, Bonner, along with Offensive Coordinator Kent Austin and RB John Avery make up a fraternity of Ole' Miss alumni currently with the Boatmen. ‘AB' missed much of the 2005 campaign due to injury but was still considered an important part of the Argonauts' defensive scheme when inserted into the line-up.

Bonner enjoys drawing and playing basketball in his spare time. He is a regular star for the Courtside Boatmen and donates much of his time to the Argonauts' Huddle-Up Against Bullying program.

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 15 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
