BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers (1-1) rallied in two separate innings Thursday night, but it was not enough as they fell to the LaCrosse Loggers (1-1) 10-8

Loggers' starter Grant Yost (W, 1-0) was strong through five innings before running into trouble in the sixth. Yost was handed a 6-1 lead, but in the bottom of the sixth, gave up a key three-run home run to Matt Fears as part of a four run inning to cut the lead to one. Fears had a strong day at the plate, knocking in four runs, but struggled in the field. Two of his three errors in the game came in the fourth as a part of a four-run inning.

Bombers' starter Cam Wysocki (0-1) pitched well in 5.1 innings but could not get any help from his defense. The Loggers then extended their lead with a three-run seventh off Bombers' reliever Ryan Lavoie.

Battle Creek rallied in the ninth and managed to score two runs and load the bases before surrendering an out and without recording a hit. Left Fielder Cameron Rowland (S, 1) came in to relieve Ben Van Kekerix and Nick Piscotti in the ninth after the relievers combined to walk two betters and hit three to lead off the inning.

The Bombers play the middle two of a six-game homestand on Friday and Saturday against Eau Claire. First pitch is slated for 7:05 ET on Friday for Tony Sanchez bobblehead night.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in America. For information on tickets call (269) 962-0735 or visit BattleCreekBombers.com.
