Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Bombers scored 12 runs on 15 hits to break their five game losing streak by topping the Wisconsin Woodchucks 12-9.

The Woodchucks scored five runs in the 3rd inning with just two hits. Three walks and two hit-by-pitches in the inning allowed Wisconsin to jump to an early lead. Battle Creek wasted no time to come back however, scoring five of their own in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game.

The next two innings were more of the same for the Bombers. They scored three runs in the 4th inning and four more in the 5th to give the Bombers a 12-5 lead. Wisconsin battled back, scoring four runs in the 6th, but that was all the Woodchucks got the rest of the way. Brian Heldman and Alex Tukey were both excellent out of the bullpen. They both threw a scoreless inning to shut the door.

Colin Willis, Dylan Delaney, and Sikes Orvis all had three hits on the night for Battle Creek. Two of Orvis's hits were for extra bases. He had six RBI to lead the Bombers. With the win, the Bombers move to 10-13 on the year. Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night in Battle Creek. Dylan Rheault gets the call on the mound.
