Mequon WI - The Madison Mallards (9-14) dropped their fourth straight game 6-4 against the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-12) Thursday night at Kapco Park. Mallards pitcher Sam Forkert (Marian) took the loss for the Mallards as he went 4.0 innings and gave up three runs on three hits.

Forkert kept the Chinooks scoreless through the third inning, but in the fourth, the strong pitching subsided. Forkert walked first baseman Bre' Kimbell (Louisana Tech) to start the inning. The Chinooks proceeded to load the bases with a single by right fielder Zach Granite (Seton Hall) and another walk to catcher Connor Lynch (Georgia Tech). Designated hitter Matt Harjung (Missouri Baptist) sent home Kimball with a sacrifice fly and shortstop Matt Morse (UAB) plated Granite and Lynch on a double.

The Chinooks added two runs in the fifth inning off reliever Will Lamarche (Chabot College) to put the score at 5-0.

The Mallards came roaring back in the sixth inning. Left fielder Tom Lally (Central Michigan) and right fielder Tyler Maricov (North Florida) led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Mallards third basemen Jose Trevino (Oral Roberts) plated Lally with an RBI double and first baseman Jeff Zimmerman (Northern Illinois) cleared the bases with a three run shot to right field to make the score 5-4.

That was as close as the Mallards would come. The Chinooks scored one insurance run in the bottom of the 8th inning to make the score 6-4.

Chinooks starter Chris Cotton (LSU) earned his first victory in the Northwoods League this season. Cotton pitched well in his debut, with five innings pitched, two hits, no runs, two walks and two strikeouts.

The Mallards will return home on Saturday, June 23rd at 6:35 pm. That night will be Jani-King Air Freshener Night and will also feature Post-Game Fireworks presented by Budweiser.

The 2012 season is upon us! Single-game tickets are on-sale for all Mallards home games.
