Rockford Lightning News Release

Rockford, IL- Sometimes one quarter is all you need to earn a victory, and the Lightning got that in their 128-120 victory over Idaho Sunday afternoon. The Lightning gave up three quarter points, losing the first, third and fourth quarters, but outscored Idaho 42-24 in the second period.

Rockford's 77 points in the first half of Sunday's game is a season high for points scored in a half. Marshall Phillips scored 20 of those points in the first half, and he finished with a total of 25 points in the contest. The leading scorer for Rockford was Ronnie Fields, as he shot 7-of-17 from the field and 12-of-16 from the charity stripe for 26 points. Fields also led the way with assists, tallying six in the game. After getting no blocked shots in Saturday night's loss at Gary, the Lightning rejected seven of Idaho's shot attempts, five of which came from the league-leader in blocked shots, Keith Closs. Closs also hauled down nine rebounds in the Bolts' win. Leading the scoring for Idaho was Britton Johnsen, who was a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, and he finished with a total of 27 points.

Rockford has road games this week against Gary and Idaho before the CBA All-Star Break. The Lightning then return home on Tuesday, January 25, as they host Eastern Conference rival Great Lakes. Tip off time is at 7:05 p.m. between the Lightning and Storm, and all kids tickets will be half-price. To order your tickets, call the MetroCentre box office at 815-968-5222.
