Steelheads back on all cylinders

Gary Steelheads News Release


Gary, IN: The Gary Steelheads continued to turn the tables on their rival, the Rockford Lightning, winning 125-105 and taking 6 quarter points in the process. Joining in the excitement of the win was the man we all know and love "The Ultimate Nerd" Myron Noodleman and hometown legend and former 1st overall pick in the NBA Draft, Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson.

The Steelheads rolled out to a 1st quarter lead 35-29. Shelly Clark had 12 points to lead the quarter. At the end of the 1st half the Steelheads pulled out to a 72-60 lead on the strength of Jimmie Hunter's five 3 point field goals for 19 points. The third quarter was more of the same as the Steelheads won the 3rd quarter 27-19. The Lightning managed to capture the 4th quarter 28-24, but the Steelheads had too much for the Lightning as they won for the second consecutive game against the Lightning 125-105.

Leading the way for the Steelheads was Jimmie Hunter who had 24 points. Jemeil Rich continues his strong play with 15 points, 13 assists, and 7 steals. Shelly Clark had 23 points and Lonnie Jones had 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in the win. Stais Boseman had 21 points for the Lighting.
