
Bohannon's Triple-Double Not Enough in OT

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, got huge performances and forced overtime on a wild buzzer-beater by Robert Williams, but fell to the Windy City Bulls in OT Wednesday night, 130-127. With the loss, the Red Claws (18-27) are eliminated from playoff contention.
John Bohannon recorded the 15th triple-double in franchise history with 12 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists. He also blocked 4 shots in the game. Andrew White led Maine with 24 points and 6 rebounds. R.J. Hunter added 23 points in the loss, while Robert Williams, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, scored 21 points on 8-12 shooting off the bench. P.J. Dozier scored 20 points to go with 10 assists for Maine.
Windy City (26-20) was led by former Red Claw Walt Lemon, Jr., who finished with 29 points including huge buckets in the 4th quarter and overtime.
The Red Claws started the game shooting hot from the outside, with Brown, Hunter and White all knocking in three-pointers. The Red Claws led 12-10 early. White scored inside and out, helping Maine's lead extend to 7. Brandon Sampson would bring the Bulls right back with a three-point play. Williams showed his offensive strengths, with the Celtics rookie scoring 6 straight points for Maine. Dozier fed Goodwin for the easy lay-in, and Goodwin followed that up with another bucket. After a Dozier three, Maine led 39-32 after the 1st quarter.
Bohannon rocked the rim on back-to-back possessions to open the 2nd, and White buried another three to extend the Red Claws lead to 52-44. Windy City would go on a 13-4 run to re-gain the lead. Lemon's lay-up made it 61-56 Bulls. Hunter's deep three would tie the game once again. Dozier's tough bank shot put Maine up 1 in the final minute of the period, and the Red Claws led 66-64 at the half. White led all scorers with 14 points at the half, while Bohannon had 6 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists in the first half. Maine shot 57% (25-44) from the field in the first two quarters.
In the 3rd, Hunter buried a deep three to put Maine up 71-68. Hunter knocked in another three to extend the lead to 6. Brandon Sampson gave Windy City the lead back with a three-point play. Williams got the lead right back with a strong post move. Lemon and JaKarr Sampson put the Bulls up 4. Bohannon's circus shot gave him a triple-double in the 3rd quarter, but Maine trailed 98-93 after 3.
The Red Claws opened the 4th on a 9-0 run. Williams' hook shot gave the Claws a 100-98 lead. Hunter's fast break dunk put the Claws up 3. Lemon's three-point play tied the game at 112. Lemon and Sampson put the Bulls up 4 with less than 2:00 to play. White's put-back cut it to 117-116 with 1:09 to play. With the ball in the final seconds, Goodwin was blocked by Lemon, and after a free throw Windy City led by 2 with :12.1 left. Goodwin's shot is goaltended to tie the game. Lemon's step-back with :0.4 left put the Bulls up 2. Williams' improbable tip-in dunk at the buzzer tied the game at 120 and sent it to overtime.
In OT, Lemon opened with an easy dunk. Goodwin answered with a three-point play to put Maine up 1. Lemon hit a pair of big buckets to put the Bulls up 5 with :21.3 left. White's lay-up cut it to 130-127 with :11.5 to play. After an offensive foul, Maine got the ball back with :11.2 left. Dozier missed a three and the Bulls walked away with the win.
Maine shot 53% (48-91) from the field, 32% (10-31) from three-point range, and 21-28 from the free throw line. Windy City shot 46% (46-100) from the floor, 37% (13-25) from downtown, and 25-30 from the charity stripe.
