Bridgeport, Conn. - Bracken Kearns' two goals in the first period and Brandon Bochenski's two tallies in the second, help the Norfolk Admirals to a 6-3 victory over the Sound Tigers. Grant Potulny and Brandon Segal also scored for the Admirals. The Sound Tigers received two goals from Trevor Smith and one from leading scorer, Mike Iggulden. Peter Mannino played in goal for the Sound Tigers and stopped 27 shots while his counter-part, Mike McKenna earned the victory making 29 saves. The Sound Tigers drop to 16-6-1-2 but still have claim to the second spot in the East Division with 35 points.
Potulny opened the scoring for Norfolk in the opening period with his third goal of the season at 3:31. Bochenski and Zenon Konopka assisted on Potulny's goal coming on the power-play. Kearns would make it 3-0 in favor of the Admirals when he scored fifth and sixth goals of the season, coming seven minutes apart.
Smith would tally his first goal of the game 23 seconds into the second period, his tenth of the season while the Sound Tigers were on the power-play. Kurtis McLean sent a pass to Andrew MacDonald at the left point where he wristed a shot on net with Smith screening in front. The puck appeared to redirect off of Smith to break McKenna's shutout bid. Bochenski would connect for his tenth and eleventh goals coming just over the half-way mark of the middle frame to make the score 5-1 in favor of Norfolk.
Segal would close out the scoring for the Admirals in the third period when he wristed a shot over Mannino's glove for his ninth tally of the season. Jason Ward had the only assist on the shorthanded goal. Smith and Iggulden would tighten the score, both with goals coming on the man-advantage to close out the game's scoring at 6-3.
The Sound Tigers scored all three of their goals on the power-play, going 3-for-9 in the game. Norfolk was 3-for-4 while on the man-advantage.
Tomorrow the Sound Tigers will travel to Lowell to take on the Devils at 4 p.m. The team's next home game is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19 when they take on the Springfield Falcons for the first time this season.
