
Potter heads up to New York

New York, December 6, 2008 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Corey Potter has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Potter, 24, has registered two goals and nine assists for 11 points, along with 26 penalty minutes in 23 games with Hartford this season. He currently ranks second on the team among defensemen in assists (nine) and points (11), and is tied for first in goals (two). The 6-3, 200-pounder has recorded two multiple-point games this season, including a multiple-assist effort on October 22 at Worcester. In 2007-08, Potter appeared in 80 games with Hartford (AHL), recording five goals and 27 assists for 32 points, along with 102 penalty minutes. He led the Wolf Pack in games played (80) and ranked fourth on the club in penalty minutes (102). He also ranked third among team defensemen in assists (27) and points (32), and tied for third in goals (five).
The Lansing, Michigan native was originally the Rangers' third choice, 122nd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
From today's practice, everyone on the Rangers' roster skated. The Blueshirts return to action tomorrow, December 7, when they will face off against the Calgary Flames at Madison Square Garden (7:30 PM). Prior to the game, the team's morning skate is scheduled for 10:30 AM at the MSG Training Center. The Blueshirts have won five of their last eight meetings with the Flames, and four of their last six at MSG. New York leads the NHL with 778 hits, including a league-high 564 hits at home.
