Bismarck Bobcats News Release

The Bobcats announce that Ryan Cunningham has joined their team as Director of Media and Communications and new "Voice of the Bobcats". Cunningham has filled in on the radio broadcast for three games this season, and becomes the permanent voice as of this weekend's games with the Minot Minotauros.

"My family and I are very excited to take on this opportunity with the Bobcats," said Cunningham. "After a visit to a game, we found a very energized building at the VFW Sports Center, and a fan base that loves Bobcat hockey. I'm thrilled to be part of the team."

Cunningham, 38, is a Valley City, ND native, and attended school at Valley City High School and Valley City State University. He won the state high school radio broadcasting championship in 1994, and, most recently, won the North Dakota Broadcasters Association award for best play-by-play coverage this past summer. Before the move to Bismarck, he worked as a high school sports broadcaster at KNOX Radio in Grand Forks, ND. He was the broadcast voice of Valley City State University Viking sports from 2001 to 2012.

"With Paul Teeple taking a job with the ECHL's Florida Everblades, I was a little concerned about finding the quality broadcaster that Bismarck Fans are accustomed to and deserve," according to Bobcat Owner Thom Brigl. "But when I heard Ryan's game call and became aware he was a North Dakota Native I knew he was a Bobcat. We are very pleased that Ryan and his young family are moving to Bismarck and are confident the Fans will really enjoy him as the Voice of the Bobcats!"

Cunningham and his wife, Cassandra, a native of Langdon, ND, have one child, Veronica, born last December.
