Soo Eagles Walk for Various Causes in Sault Ste. Marie

October 24, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Soo Eagles News Release

It's hard to go around the town of Sault Ste. Marie, and not see the Soo Eagles presence. Whether it is the banners on the light poles on Portage Avenue, the season schedules posted on local business windows, or the various signs promoting and supporting upcoming Eagles events, they have become a junior hockey fixture in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

All one had to do on Sunday was look at the front page of The Evening News, as Soo Eagles players led the way for the third annual "Pink Mile" held last Saturday morning in downtown Sault Ste. Marie. Members of the Soo Eagles hockey team led more than 100 Eastern Upper Peninsula community members, walking to promote breast cancer awareness. All proceeds from the event went to help the American Cancer Society.

The Eagles also participated recently in the Domestic Walk, also held in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, sponsored by the Sault Tribe's Advocacy Resource Center, along with the Diane Peppler Resource Center. This walk was to help raise awareness of domestic violence in the area.
