Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, will wear pink warm-up jerseys in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month during their pre-game skate at Sunday's "Pink the Rink" matchup with the Michigan Warriors at 4 p.m. at McMorran Arena.

The jerseys will be sold in a silent auction to benefit "Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer," which raises money for St. Clair County residents who need assistance for cancer treatment. Opening bid has been set at just $30.

The "Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer" calendar will also be available during Sunday's game for a minimum donation of $5. Fighting Falcons mascot Shootzy is a part of the "human pink ribbon" featured on the calendar's cover.

The team will donate their proceeds from Sunday's 50/50 raffle as well. Nearly $300 was donated through 50/50 raffles from Port Huron's weekend series against the Wenatchee Wild earlier this month.

Karen Newman, the Voice of the Detroit Red Wings will perform the national anthem prior to Sunday's game. Tickets to the game are available now at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $8 for an upper-level adult ticket.

Tickets are also available through "Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer." $2 from each ticket purchased through the charity group will be donated to the cause. For more information, visit their Facebook page "2014 Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer Calendar."
