Boardwalk Bullies Fall to Titans, 5-4

January 29, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Trenton Titans opened the game with backup goalie Dave Marlin in net and no emergency goalie on the bench. The Titans signed Terry Craven before the game to fill the emergency goalie slot, but Craven did not make it to the game on time. Traveling from Hamilton, N.Y., Craven fought driving through the snow to join the Titans. Despite the chaos, the Titans managed to beat the Bullies, 5-4; Marlin's first win as a member of the Titans.

Down 5-2 with two minutes, 50 seconds left in the second period, the Bullies launched a come-from-behind effort. Mike Martiniello scored his third goal of the year off a pass from Mark Loeding to cut the lead to two, and J.F. Caudron opened the final frame with his second goal of the night, and the only one in the period.

Goalie Matt Yeats stopped 28 shots and Marlin made 29 saves. Ironically, Marlin earned a win against the Titans as a member of the Bullies on November 30, 2002.

Caudron finished the game with three points on two goals, including a short-handed tally, and an assist. Blueliner Kirk Furey chipped in two helpers, and rookie Jim Henkel extended his point-scoring streak to 15 games with an assist on Caudron's second goal.

Titans' Alternate Captains Scott Bertoli and Adam Edinger each earned a goal and an assist and Sean Connolly and Tyler Beechey each contributed two assists in the win.

The 2002 Kelly Cup Playoffs Northeast Division Champion Boardwalk Bullies play at Boardwalk Hall. Season tickets and partial plans for the 2002-03 regular season are on sale by calling (609) 348-PUCK.
