Blues Recall Goaltender Jake Allen

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the club has recalled goaltender Jake Allen from the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen today. Goaltender Paul Karpowich has also been reassigned to Peoria from the team's ECHL affiliate, the Evansville IceMen.

Allen, 22, made his first NHL start on Feb. 13 and earned his first NHL victory that same night. He started four consecutive games for the Blues and collected a 3-1-0 record with a 2.62 goals-against average and 0.895 save percentage. He made his NHL regular season debut on Feb. 5 against Nashville in relief of Brian Elliott.

Allen has appeared in 35 games for the Rivermen this season posting a 13-16-3-2 record including a 2.89 goals against average, .904 save percentage and two shutouts.

The 6'2, 200-pound goaltender set Rivermen records for wins (24), minutes played (2,805), saves (1,306) and shutouts (6) during the 2010-11 season. The Fredericton, New Brunswick native was drafted by the Blues in the second round (34th overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft.

Karpowich, 24, spent a week on the Rivermen roster in February without appearing in a game. He made his professional debut this season with the IceMen. In 25 games, he has posted a 7-13-1-1 record with a 3.27 goals-against average and 0.900 save percentage. He posted a 23-save shutout on Nov. 17 against Fort Wayne.

Selected by the Blues in the seventh round, 185th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Karpowich played the last four seasons at Clarkson University. In 2011-12 with the Golden Knights, he played a career-high 37-games, posting a record of 16-15-6 with a school record 5-shutouts and a 2.46 GAA and .921 sv%. In all, Karpowich played in school record 130-career games, registering 7-shutouts and 46-victories.
