
Coyotes Sign Defenseman Mathieu Brisebois to Entry-Level Contract

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed junior free agent defenseman Mathieu Brisebois (pronounced Mathew BREEZE-bwah) of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) to a three-year entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Brisebois has recorded 17-50-67 in 58 games with Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL) this season. He is currently tied for the league lead in scoring by defensemen.
The 20-year-old was named the league's second star of the month for February after collecting 5-12-17 in 11 games with a plus-11 rating. He registered a point in 10 consecutive games while collecting two points in seven games.
The Mont St-Hilaire, Quebec native set career highs in assists (50) and points (67) this season while tying his career high in goals (17). In 173 regular season games (three seasons) with the Huskies, Brisebois has recorded 37-104-141.
Brisebois played for the Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL) in 2009-10 where he posted 0-7-7 in 31 games.
