Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue (23-21) fell to the Lakeland Magic (21-21), 113-108, as the Blue welcomed a crowd of 15,097 of young fans to Chesapeake Energy Arena for the team's annual Field Trip Day on Wednesday morning.
The presentation for today's game featured STEM facts and activities to encourage students to engage in science, technology, engineering and math education. Rumble the Bison, Thunder Girls and Storm Chasers added Thunder fun to the experience, and Science Museum Oklahoma led a halftime demonstration.
Oklahoma City trailed by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter, but with a minute left, two-way player Daniel Hamilton split a pair of free throws to cut Lakeland's lead to 108-105. The Magic's John Petrucelli responded with four straight points to put the game away.
Hamilton narrowly missed his fourth straight double-double, scoring 16 points to go with nine rebounds and seven assists. Petrucelli led the way for Lakeland with 24 points and six rebounds.
"We're obviously disappointed with the loss, but we are very thankful for all of the people in the community that came out today and we hope they had a great time," said Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "We need to learn from today's game and be a better team on Friday."
In a game that featured 15 lead changes, Oklahoma City led 27-26 after the first quarter behind eight points for Dakari Johnson. On assignment from the Thunder, Johnson scored a game-high 26 points and tallied eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
The Blue will face the Texas Legends at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at the Cox Convention Center.
