HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws (35-30) remain alive in the playoff race in the South Atlantic League thanks to their 10-1 win over the Hagerstown Suns (31-34) on Thursday night. On the same day they placed their All-Star 1B Jim Murphy on the Disabled List, the BlueClaws scored 4 times in the first inning and never looked back in a 10-2 win.

Fresh off the DL, starter Garett Claypool was fantastic for the BlueClaws. Claypool threw 6 shutout innings and allowed just 3 hits while striking out 6 batters to earn his 5th win of the year. Offensively, the BlueClaws pounded out 16 hits, and every single starter had at least 1 hit. Five of Lakewood's starters had multi hit games.

Carlos Alonso and Jeff Lanning paced the BlueClaws with 3 hit nights. Alonso was 3-4 with 3 RBi's and 2 runs scored. Filling in for Murphy at 1B was Lanning, and he did his best Murphy impression going 3-5 with a HR and 2 RBI. Anthony Hewitt, Zach Collier, and Cameron Rupp all went 2-5.

Friday night the BlueClaws will send out RHP Lendy Castillo for a spot start in game 2 of the 5 game series. Hagerstown will start LHP Robbie Ray. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
