Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws have a flair for the dramatic lately as they won another 1 run game. This time it was a 1-0 walk off win in 10 innings on Wednesday afternoon over the Hagerstown Suns. The win gave the BlueClaws a 2-1 series win over the Suns, and was their 3rd series victory in the first 4 series of the 2nd Half. Edgar Duran was the hero on Wednesday with the walk off single in the bottom of the 10th with 1 out that scored Jeff Lanning from 2nd for the games only run.

The story of the day was Lakewood Starter Lisalberto Bonilla. Bonilla pitched an unbelievable game going 9 shutout innings, allowing only 5 hits and striking out a career high 12 batters. The 12 K's by Bonilla is also a new season high for a blueclaws pitcher this season. Unfortunately, Lakewood just couyldn't playte in runs in support of their All-Star Righty and he got a no decision in the game. Bonilla is now 0-2 with a 1.49 ERA as a BlueClaw.

Lakewood out hit Hagerstown 7-5 in the game, and each team committed 2 errors. With the win, the BlueClaws improved their record to 17-14 in 1-run ballgames, and are now 32-16 when they score first. Edgar Duran and Zach Collier each had 2 hits in the game, and Duran came through when it mattered most with an RBI single down the RF line to plate Jeff Lanning to win the game for Lakewood.

Thursday the BlueClaws will welcome the Kannapolis Intimidators to town for the first of a 4 game series. Lakewood will start LHP Ervis Manzanillo (6-4, 4.50 ERA) and RHP Dexter Carter (2-3, 5.75 ERA) will start for Kannapolis. First Pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
