SALISBURY, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws (33-26) continue their hot play as of late as they beat the Delmarva Shorebirds (20-40) by a final of 9-3 on Thursday. The win completes the 4 game sweep of the series for Lakewood, and is their 5th straight win overall. The BlueClaws are 9-1 in their last 10 games, and have moved to within just 2 games of 1st Place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division with 10 games to play.

The game featured a 1 hour and 2 minute delay due to rain and lightning in the bottom of the 4th inning. Austin Wright departed after just 3 innings pitched for Lakewood. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts. Tyler Knigge came in to start following the rain delay for the BlueClaws, and he allowed 1 unearned run on just 1 hit over 3 innings to earn his 4th win of the year. Rye Davis made his Lakewood debut allowing 1 run in 2 innings of work.

Zach Collier had 4 hits for Lakewood for the 4th time this season, and finished 4-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Anthony Hewitt cranked his 14th HR of the year with a 2 run shot in the 7th inning. Hewitt, Carlos Perdomo, and Cameron Rupp all chipped in with 2 hit games for the BlueClaws. Of the 12 hits for Lakewood, 10 were singles with only a double by Carlos Perdomo and the HR by Anthony Hewitt being for extra bases. The BlueClaws erased a 1-0 deficit with a big 7 run 4th inning to win their 5th straight.

Now up for Lakewood is a big 5 game series at home against the Hickory Crawdads. Lakewood will send out RHP Lendy Castillo (4-2, 2.43 ERA) for a spot start in Game 1 and Hickory will counter with RHP Ben Henry (5-2, 2.92 ERA). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood.
